Ardingly College 13 Plus (13+) Pretest Practice Tests (and Courses)

Introduction

Ardingly College was founded in 1858 and is located near Ardingly, in West Sussex. It is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school that educates over 400 students aged between 13 and 18. The school has a strong Anglo-Catholic tradition and is a member of the Woodard Corporation of Independent Schools.

Originally established as a boys-only boarding school, Ardingly became co-educational in 1982. The school shares common grounds with Ardingly College Preparatory School and is recognised as one of the top ten International Baccalaureate (IB) schools in the UK. In previous years, Ardingly College has won the Royal Society of Chemistry Top of the Bench Competition.

How to Apply for 13 Plus Entry to Ardingly College

In the first instance, parents and students are encouraged to attend one of the school’s Open Mornings to meet current pupils, members of staff and to take a tour of the school grounds. The morning begins with a welcome from the Head, followed by refreshments, where parents will have the opportunity to ask any questions they may have about the school. In order to register to attend one of the school’s Open Mornings, or to arrange a private visit, parents are asked to complete an enquiry form, or telephone admissions on 01444 893320. Individual tours can also be arranged.

After attending the Open Morning, if you feel that Ardingly College is the right choice for your child, the next step is to complete the registration process, which involves completing the school’s Registration Form.

The Ardingly College 13 Plus Pretest Assessment

Entry to Ardingly College in Year 9 is determined by pupil performance in the ISEB Common Pretest exam, a school report, and a reference.

The Ardingly College pretest is taken online at the student’s prep school. The test is designed to provide the school with an insight into the child’s academic potential. Parents whose children aren’t studying at a UK prep school are invited to contact the school to make arrangements to sit the pretest assessment.

Ardingly College Admissions Criteria

Students are admitted to Ardingly in Year 9, although later entry options are available. The admission process begins with a preliminary visit to the school, either as part of an Open Morning, a small group visit, or a private visit. The Registrar then requests a recent school report and a reference from the Head of the child’s prep school. The ISEB Common Pretest is taken in the Michaelmas Term of Year 7. Offers are then made following the outcome of the pretest, the interview, the school report, and reference.

Before the school term begins on the child’s year of entry, successful candidates are invited to the Ardingly Adventure Day, where they will participate in a range of teambuilding activities and meet their classmates. This is not part of the entry assessment process. Acceptances and deposits are then requested.

How to Prepare for the Ardingly College Pretest

Ardingly College uses the ISEB Common Pretest, for 13 Plus entry. At Pretest Plus, we specialise in helping students prepare for the 13+ pretest exam, as well as other independent school entry tests through our online pretest practice tests and courses.

Preparing for the Ardingly College pretest using practice tests and courses will help give your child a competitive edge. They help familiarise students with the layout of the actual exam and provide an insight into the types of questions that students will be asked in the Ardingly 13 Plus pretest.

Our pretest practice tests and courses can help parents identify their child’s strengths and weaknesses. If you find that your child needs to improve in a particular subject, you can then adjust their revision plan to suit.

Taken under timed conditions, the practice tests can also help candidates improve their time management skills. The more practice students have in answering pretest questions at speed, the more questions they will be able to complete within the allocated time.

Our pretest resources are the ideal way to prepare for the Ardingly 13 Plus pretest assessment. Each test consists of four timed modules that cover Maths, English, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Once a test is complete, students will have the opportunity to review their answers and read detailed explanations for each question. Information on statistical averages is also provided.
