Bloxham School 13 Plus (13+) Pretest Practice Tests (and Courses)

Introduction

Also known as All Saints’ School, Bloxham School was founded in 1860 as a school of the Oxford Movement. An independent, co-educational day and boarding school, Bloxham, is located in the village of the same name, near Banbury in Oxfordshire.

Now a member of the Woodard Corporation, the school educates approximately 460 pupils aged between 11 and 18. The school has been described as ‘one of Britain’s best smaller public schools’. Bloxham School has several societies and sport plays an important role in school life.

How to Apply for 13 Plus Entry to Bloxham School

In order to apply for entry to Bloxham School in Year 9, parents first need to register their child with the school by completing the online registration form. A fee of £200 should also be paid at the point of registration. This reserves a provisional place for the student. Alongside the registration form, parents are also asked to submit a recent school report.

The Bloxham School 13 Plus Pretest Assessment

The school uses both a Pretest assessment and Assessment Day as part of its 13 Plus admissions. Students must take the ISEB Common Pretest at their current school or at Bloxham in the first half of the Michaelmas term of Year 7. The test focuses on four areas (verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, maths and English) and combines each of these elements to gain an overall standardised score. Students who achieve the benchmark score in the Pretest will be invited to attend the school’s Assessment Day, which will take place in November (while still in Year 7). It should be noted however, that achieving the benchmark score in the Pretest is not a guarantee of a Year 9 place.

Bloxham School Admissions Criteria

Successful applicants are then invited to the Assessment Day, which includes an interview and a group exercise. Performance on the day will be scored to standard criteria and considered alongside a report from the candidate’s current school, with these three elements – the interview, group exercise and school report – given equal consideration. Places are offered based on performance during the Assessment Day. For those sitting Common Entrance, offers are provisional, and confirmed following satisfactory achievement in this exam.

How to Prepare for the Bloxham School Pretest

Bloxham School uses the ISEB Common Entrance Pretest for Year 9 entry as competition for places is high. At Pretest Plus, we would recommend that children start preparing for the pretest early to allow them time to familiarise themselves with its layout.

We publish online pretest practice tests and courses that can help students prepare for the pretest exam at Bloxham School. As well as familiarising students with the layout of the exam, our practice tests and courses also help pupils get used to the types of questions they could be asked on the day.

By introducing practice tests and courses into a student’s revision programme, parents can identify their child’s strengths and weaknesses and adjust the focus of their studying to suit. Taking an online, timed practice test will help students get used to answering questions quickly and under pressure. The more timed tests a student completes, the better their time management skills will become.

Our pretest resources are ideal for students preparing for the Bloxham School pretest. Each test is laid out in four timed sections, similar to the actual exam, covering verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, English and Maths. Once students have completed a test, they will be presented with instant feedback on their results. Each test also includes detailed explanations of each answer and provides statistical averages to give an indication of relative performance.
