Hurstpierpoint College (Hurst) 11 Plus Pretest Practice Tests (and Courses)

Introduction

Founded in 1849, Hurstpierpoint College, also know as Hurst, is a co-educational, independent boarding school for students aged 4 to 18. Located in West Sussex, the College is a member of the Woodard Corporation and has over 1,000 students split across 11 houses.

While Hurstpierpoint offers an extremely challenging academic programme, it also encourages pupils to take on additional activities away from their set timetable in order to prepare them for life outside of the College and into further education.

The Hurst 11 Plus Pretest Assessment

Before the College assigns 11 Plus places, prospective pupils must sit the ISEB Common Pretest Exam during an assessment day, which usually takes place in mid-January of the year of entry. This is an age-standardised test that is used to assess pupils’ attainment and overall potential. The tests focuses on the Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning aspects of the ISEB Pretest.

Hurstpierpoint College Admissions Criteria

The ISEB Common Pretest assessment is followed by an interview with the College’s Head, or another senior member of staff, lunch with prefects and various other group activities.

Places will be allocated based on a student’s performance on this assessment day, covering their results in the pretest, the admissions interview and the group activities. A report from the pupil’s current school will also be considered.
