Introduction
St Paul’s Juniors (formerly Colet Court) is a private boys’ school in Barnes, London. Known for encouraging academic, physical, creative, social, moral and spiritual growth amongst pupils, the school was founded in 1881 and renamed St. Paul’s Juniors in 2016.
The extensive curricular programme is enriched through trips, workshops, extra-curricular and interdisciplinary projects. Boys regularly win medals in the Junior Mathematics Olympiad, and achieve consistent successes in the Townsend Warner History and Young Geographer of the Year competitions.
St Paul’s Juniors maintains strong collaboration with charities and other organisations, promoting social impact through volunteering and raising awareness and funds.
How to Apply for 11 Plus Entry to St. Paul’s Juniors
The school admits approximately 36 boys at 11+. Its admission process selects boys who demonstrate an all-round intellectual ability, interest in academic study and commitment to extra-curricular activities.
Families are welcome to visit the school during its Open Morning events. To book a spot, parents should email the Admissions Secretary with the candidate’s name, date of birth and the name of his current school at [email protected].
Registering for the 11+ exam is done online. The application form should be submitted along with an electronic copy of the candidate’s passport and a payment of £50 (for the exam fee). If he is successful and is offered a place, parents will be expected to formally register and pay a registration fee of £125 on acceptance.
The St. Paul’s Juniors 11 Plus Pretest Assessment
Entry for 11+ to St. Paul’s Juniors (Colet Court) is fiercely competitive. The first stage of the examination process requires boys to sit the computerised ISEB Common Pretest. This online test has four sections: Mathematics, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. The questions are presented in multiple-choice format and the test takes about 2 and a half hours to complete. The section lengths are as follows:
– Maths – 50 minutes
– English – 25 minutes
– Verbal Reasoning – 36 minutes
– Non-Verbal Reasoning – 32 minutes
Boys who perform well in the ISEB Pretest, will be invited back to sit written examinations in English and Mathematics in January. There will also be an interview with senior staff member.
