Sale Grammar School » Late Transfer (In-Year) Entry Information

Introduction

Sale Grammar School is a co-ed grammar school based in Sale to the south of Manchester. Opened in 1991 by Princess Alexandra, the school has recently been rated as ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED. [1]

Through a varied and stimulating curriculum, Sale Grammar maximises pupils’ abilities in the areas of mathematics, English, science, drama, humanities, technology and languages, among others. The Skills for Life department further enhances the learning experience and deepens students’ understanding of the responsibilities of citizenship, enabling them early on to recognise and cope with different forms of discrimination and peer preassure. [2

One of the key elements of the Sale Grammar education is the provision of extracurriculars. Hence, the school’s offering is rich in both quantity and quality, including clubs and activities such as creative writing, textiles, philosophy and sports.

Noted as a genuinely happy school, Sale nurtures a welcoming ethos which prioritises children’s personal development. The school’s community is characterised by positive relationships rooted in mutual respect and trust, which ensure that the learning environment is as pleasant as it gets.

Besides its standard entry point (11+), the school also accepts late entry applications. To assess pupils for late transfer, Sale Grammar School administers an online test similar to CEM Select.

CEM Select is created by the Centre of Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM), which is part of Cambridge Assessment.

Sale Grammar School In-Year Entry (12 Plus & 13 Plus) Admissions Information

This test will be taken at Sale Grammar School. Dates are not specified as the school will only assess applicants if there are places available.

Scores will be standardised, taking into consideration your child’s date of birth. Please note that a successful outcome does not guarantee a place at the school. Instead, your child will be placed on a waiting list, in accordance with the published over-subscription criteria.

Applicants who have previously participated in the In-Year test and who have not gained entry, must wait for a minimum of twelve months before reassessment.
