Introduction

Maidstone Grammar School for Girls (MGGS) is a selective grammar school in Maidstone. Founded in 1887, it operates a house system, consisting of six different houses which compete in annual performance art and sporting competitions. [1]

Enhancing students’ knowledge and understanding, the school’s staff delivers lessons in line with the National Curriculum, including the subject areas of mathematics, science, English, MFL, history, geography, PE, DT, religious studies, art, music, drama and computer science.

Maidstone Grammar is actively invested in extending girls’ cultural horizons and their appreciation of differences, providing them with memorable experiences through expeditions to far-off destinations such as Nepal, and more remote ones such as Austria, France, Germany, and Spain. [2]

Furthermore, MGGS is one of only four Advanced Thinking Schools in the secondary sector and, as such, it works on improving girls’ learning processes and boosts their problem-solving abilities by encouraging them to employ flexible thinking and ask perceptive questions. [3]

Maidstone Grammar prides itself for producing compassionate and inquiring young people who are deeply committed to making the most of the opportunities on offer. To better themselves, students adopt the school’s values & moral dimensions and embody the mottoNot for oneself but for all’, developing resilience and resourcefulness in the process.

To assess pupils for late transfer, Maidstone Grammar School for Girls administers the CAT4 online test along with papers for Maths and English (essay).
