Introduction

The Judd School (also known as Judd) is a selective grammar school for boys in Tonbridge, Kent. Founded in 1988, Judd has specialist status in music, science and mathematics and has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED. [1]

Students benefit from a rich and rigorous curriculum comprising 18 different subjects, including English, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, MFL, history, geography, religious education, computer science, art, music, DT and PE & games.

Exceeding all common criteria for comprehensive education, Judd couples its extensive academic provision with an impressive number of clubs and activities, ranging from debating, film club, gardening club and programming club to young engineers, medical society, philosophy society and the DofE award.

Trips and expeditions are organised all throughout the academic year, allowing students to take learning beyond the classroom and develop numerous skills. Destinations have included India, Borneo, France, Germany, South Africa, New Zealand and Barbados. [2]

Equipped with strong academic and non-academic knowledge, as well as high levels of cultural awareness, pupils at Judd proceed to use their strengths for the benefit of local and wider communities. The breadth and depth of the educational provision allows them to make informed decisions in their later lives and demonstrate resourcefulness in the widest possible context.

The Judd School standard entry point is 11 Plus. However, the school also accepts applications from pupils interested in In-Year (Late) Entry. To assess pupils for late transfer, The Judd School administers the CAT4 online test.

The Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) covers four subject areas, each of them evaluating pupils’ Reasoning skills through standardised assessments.
