Dauntsey’s School 13 Plus (13+) Pretest Practice Tests (and Courses)

Introduction

Founded in 1542, Dauntsey’s School is a co-educational, independent day and boarding school located in Wiltshire’s West Lavington area. The school admits pupils aged 11 to 18 years, who are split into five boarding houses and seven day houses.

The school balances a substantial educational programme with a variety of extracurricular activities, including drama, music and sport – all held within its 25-acre campus.

How to Apply for 13 Plus Entry to Dauntsey’s School

At Dauntsey’s, entry at 13 Plus is mainly for boarding pupils only, with considerable waiting lists for day places. Before registration, parents and guardians are encouraged to attend one of the school’s open mornings, which includes a tour of the facilities, a welcome from the headteacher and lunch with staff members.

To be considered for a place at 13 Plus, parents must download and complete the school’s registration form and return it, alongside a cheque for £100, to the Admissions Office. This registration fee is non-refundable. For questions about the registration form, call +44 (0)1380 814504 or email [email protected].

Dauntsey’s School 13 Plus Pretest Assessment

Before a place at Dauntsey’s School can be offered, candidates are required to sit the ISEB Common Pretest Exam in February. The test is usually taken at the pupils’ current school, in addition to a ‘taster’ day and admissions interview at Dauntsey’s.

The Common Pretest covers four core subjects: Mathematics, English, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. The exam is designed to give schools an overview of a pupil’s academic potential. It is age-standardised, to ensure candidates are marked fairly.

Dauntsey’s School Admissions Criteria

Dauntsey’s School candidates at 13 Plus level are required to pass the ISEB pretest exam and show their potential and enthusiasm at the admissions interview.

A number of 13+ scholarships are also available in specific areas, such as performing arts and sports. Offers will be sent out in March and parents have until May to decide whether or not to accept the place.

How to Prepare for Dauntsey’s School Pretest

For 13 Plus entry, Dauntsey’s School uses the ISEB Common Entrance pretest. Exam preparation can be an overwhelming experience for some children and it’s important to ensure that they know what to expect. Our online practice tests and courses help students gain experience in taking pretests and can help identify their strengths and weaknesses. They cover the subjects your child will tackle in the exam itself – English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

Practice materials are a proven method of helping your child focus on their upcoming school exams, so if your child has a pretest exam coming up, we highly recommend that you make use of our range of practice tests and courses.
