St Swithun’s School 11 Plus (11+) Pretest Practice Tests (and Courses)

Introduction

Located in Winchester, St Swithun’s is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 3 to 18. Founded in 1884, St Swithun’s moved to its current, impressive 45-acre campus overlooking the Hampshire Downs in 1931. Pupils at the school consistently produce strong academic exam results and students are encouraged to take up a sport when they arrive at St Swithun’s.

How to Apply for 11 Plus Entry to St Swithun’s

If you are considering sending your daughter to St Swithun’s in Year 7, you are encouraged to attend one of the school’s open days. Lasting approximately two hours, these events give you the opportunity to visit on a normal school day, when students are being taught in class. There is also the opportunity to talk to the school’s Headteacher, teaching staff and the admissions team.

You can book your preferred date when requesting a prospectus or you can contact the school office on +44(0)1962 835 700 or email [email protected]. Competition for places is strong at St Swithun’s, so parents are encouraged to register their daughters at the earliest opportunity.

To proceed with an application to the school at the 11 Plus entry point, simply complete the registration form found in the school’s prospectus and return it alongside a non-refundable registration fee of £100. If you have any questions about the registration form, or overall process, give the admissions team a call on +44(0)1962 835 703.

The St Swithun’s 11 Plus Pretest Assessment

Before Year 7 places are offered at St Swithun’s, all candidates must sit the ISEB Common Pretest exam in October and the Common Entrance exam the following January. The Common Pretest aims to give the school an overview of a pupil’s academic potential. Pupils are tested in Mathematics, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. The test is taken online and is age-standardised to ensure that no candidate has an advantage over any other based on their age.

St Swithun’s Admissions Criteria

To gain a school place in Year 7, students must pass the ISEB Common Pretest as well as the Common Entrance exam.

St Swithun’s also offers 11 Plus entry via a variety of scholarships for pupils who excel in music or sport. Scholarship candidates are selected based on the results of the Common Entrance exam and will be invited to attend an interview with school staff.

How to Prepare for the St Swithun’s Pretest

At 11 Plus level, St Swithun’s uses the ISEB Common Entrance Pretest. One way to help your child prepare for the pretest is by using our online pretest practice tests and courses. Our resources allow your child to get better acquainted with the exam layout and overall style while improving their time management skills. They can also help identify your child’s strengths and weaknesses, allowing you to better focus their study in the lead-up to the exam itself.

Our resources are ideal for pupils who are currently preparing for the St Swithun’s pretest. Both the tests and courses cover the required subjects of Mathematics, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. After taking the tests, students will have the opportunity to review their answers and read detailed explanations of each question. This feedback enables students to allocate more time to any areas that need improvement.
