Palmers Green High School 11 Plus Pretest Assessment
Palmers Green High School requires registered children who are applying for Year 7 entry to take the ISEB Common Pretest. This is a computer-based test completed online. The aim is to provide schools with an overview of a student’s academic potential. It covers four subjects: English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. The test is age-standardised to ensure that no participant gains an unfair advantage in terms of age.
In addition to the pretest, students are required to complete an English creative writing paper, which is set by the school.
Palmers Green High School Admissions Criteria
The 11+ Entrance and Scholarship Examination takes place in January. Candidates who show promise in the written tests are invited to interview at the school in February. Parents are normally informed of the outcome during the February half term.
Should a pupil be offered a place, the offer needs to be accepted in writing within one week. A deposit of £750 is required for those entering in Year 7. The deposit is returned at the end of the pupil’s career at PGHS, subject to full settlement of the final account.
How to Prepare for the Palmers Green High School Pretest for Year 7 Entry
Because competition for places at Palmers Green High School is high, it is well worth students taking some time to prepare for the pretest exam.
Here at Pretest Plus, we design practice tests that help students prepare for the ISEB Common Pretest. Our practice tests and courses familiarise students with the exam layout and give them an insight into the types of questions that they are likely to be asked.
We would also encourage students to take our online tests under exam conditions in order to improve their time management skills. The more students practice, the better they become at working under pressure. The tests also highlight students’ strengths and weaknesses, allowing them to target their study where the most improvement is needed.
Our resources cover all of the four subjects tested in the exam: Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English and Maths. Students are provided with detailed explanations of each question once they have completed the test, along with instant feedback on their score, including statistical averages which provide an indication of relative performance.
