Doha British School CAT4 Assessment » Years 5-12

Doha British School uses the Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT) for students seeking entry from year 5 to Year 12. The CAT is an assessment of cognitive and reasoning ability. The test provides a profile of students’ strengths and weaknesses across four areas:

– Verbal Reasoning – the ability to express ideas and reason through words

– Non-Verbal Reasoning – problem-solving using pictures and diagrams

– Spatial Reasoning – the capacity to think and draw conclusions in three dimensions

– Quantitative Reasoning – the ability to use numerical skills to solve problems

Doha British School Admissions Criteria

Doha British School operates an open access policy and children of all nationalities are welcome to apply for places. The school usually receives more applications than there are available places. In the event of oversubscription, the school implements the following priority criteria:

  • The applicant must be at least competent but preferably fluent in the English language
  • The applicant must perform well in the entrance assessment
  • Priority will be given to applicants who already have siblings at the school

When a place is offered, parents will receive a letter of acceptance. They have seven days to settle the payment required or the place will be lost. In the event that the entrance standard has not been met, the child may (at the school’s discretion) be invited to do the test again at a cost of 100 QR. An applicant can only be tested twice in one academic year.

How to Prepare for the Doha British School CAT4 Assessment

One of the best ways of preparing for competitive entrance exams is to use practice tests and courses. These help students to familiarise themselves with the format and question types they will encounter in the actual test. They also provide an excellent opportunity for students to practice working under time pressure.

Our practice CAT tests and courses are available immediately after purchase. They offer excellent practice and preparation for the Doha British School CAT assessment. They cover all the required test areas and can be used to identify any weaker areas that require additional work ahead of the exam.
