Bancroft’s School » Year 7, 11 Plus (11+) Entry Information

Introduction

Bancroft’s School is a co-ed independent day school based in Woodford Green, London Borough of Redbridge. It was established in 1737 and is one of the UK’s highest performing schools. Bancroft’s alumni list is long and impressive, featuring Members of Parliament and Victoria Cross recipients. [1]

The school’s comprehensive curriculum, aimed at maximising pupils’ abilities across a range of disciplines, is balanced with a broad programme of enrichment activities. Through this programme, pupils embark on exciting journeys to far-off destinations, such as South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia and Barbados, familiarising themselves with different cultures and ways of living in the process of self-discovery.

To take the edge off the often rigorous in-class teaching, Bancroft’s offers a broad timetable of extracurriculars, including Jewish Society, chess, debating, fencing and German Spelling Bee, through which it enables students to pursue current interests and discover new passions as they progress through the school. [2]

The pastoral care system is centred on kindness and excellence, nurturing each child on campus through a balanced and overarching approach to addressing their individual needs. The communication between students and staff is open and honest, and the relationship with parents is strong and transparent, complementing the effective educational provision which facilitates a deep understanding of the world beyond school.

The CEM Select will cover the following areas:

  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning

The Verbal Reasoning section of the test assesses your child’s ability to solve problems using words, with a special focus on depth and breadth of vocabulary.
